On Sunday, December 4, 2016 we held the Grinnan & Mobley Dedication.
Did you know your local La Plata County Habitat is a member of Local First? We are an independent 501 (c)3 with all of our Board members residing in La Plata County and providing independent decision making on the needs of our local community. Since 1994 we have been building affordable low-income homes for current workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities and our aging populations. Our home OWNERS pay a mortgage equivalent to 30% of their monthly income; thus, are able to live within wages that are often not livable wages. Mortgages range from 20-38 years and often are in deed restricted areas to allow for future sales into similar low-income populations. Currently, 56.5% of our wage earners in La Plata County fall within our local Habitat income eligibility requirements. A crisis in our community. As building needs rise for second homes and smaller rental units, we are noticing fewer housing options for families.
Thank you to all who helped make the 18th Annual Wine Tasting & Silent Auction a success!

On December 21st, 2015, the Wood and Toliver families’ homes were dedicated. Pastor Jeff Huber of the First United Methodist Church and Pastor Randall provided the blessings of each new home. Friends, donors and volunteers joined in celebrating the completion of two new homes into affordable housing in La Plata County! We are so blessed by all the hands and hearts that made this possible—from those attending our build days with labor and donors with financial support to attendees, businesses contributors at our fundraisers. Our huge extended family encompasses Board members, ReStore shoppers and ReStore donors. On behalf of all our Partner Families, thank you! See you in 2016!
We enjoyed a brisk 9° day in appreciation of our new ReStore International Truck which Mercury, A Vantiv Company, provided funds toward. Habitat Board members, ReStore staff and core volunteers served baked goods, coffee and hot apple cider to employees at Mercury on Jan. 14th.
Many departments of Mercury worked alongside our mission on the Bayfield job sites in 2015 providing additional labor. We are thankful for their continued commitment to our community through affordable housing support.
Larry Drury, Chief Marketing Director and Ken Tallman of mercury, A Vantiv Company received our warm thanks. First National Bank of Durango graciously financed the loan which Mercury committed to fund over several years. In December 2015, the ReStore truck was completely paid!
Our ReStore provides monies that assist our mission in funding our annual builds. Purchases and donations generate homes! Please check out our new truck on the streets in La Plata County and become aware of our hard working community supporting the urgent housing crisis.

Every year First United Methodist and Christ the King Lutheran Church choose a weekend in June in which they worship God through serving in the community instead of having their regular church services.
