Group Opportunities

Our build site can use anywhere from 4 – 20 volunteers; however, we will accommodate more on occasion. When possible we ask larger groups to cover several days vs. one very large day. Safety is a key concern; thus all participants are required to view a brief safety video. Additional waivers are available to sign prior to participation or at the job site. Only minors aged 16 + may participate on the job site and require parental/guardian signatures on a waiver.

OurĀ volunteer manual is a great first step to our Group Opportunities.

Home Sponsorship Opportunities

Home sponsorship provides the core funding for our mission. We work with individuals, corporations, faith groups and others to fund the expenses to build simple, decent and energy efficient homes through our home sponsorship program. Volunteers build homes with Habitat construction staff guidance in La Plata County.

For out-of-state or non-resident groups, please check out our wonderful community, an ideal location for a corporate or business convention/workshop!

Camp Habitat – Team Building Program

Camp Habitat is a group volunteer event created for businesses, corporations, and faith-based organizations looking to make a positive impact in our community. This memorable day of building is perfect for departmental outings, team training and convention groups. Camp Habitat volunteers create an immediate difference as they partner with Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County in building, renovating or repairing a home. Camp Habitat also allows the group to help Habitat accomplish its goal of eliminating overcrowded, substandard housing through a donation to the affiliate.

Camp Habitat opportunities for groups with more than 30 participants or less than 20 participants are usually available. Donations for such groups are customized according to group size.

    Important Group Information

After your group day is scheduled, a Volunteer and Community Support Team member will send you a Volunteer Packet with all pertinent information for your build day. All participants must complete and sign a Release and Waiver of Liability. The Volunteer Team will send you the waiver with the packet and volunteers can turn them in at the site on your build day. Youth must have parental/guardian signatures on waiver and must be 16+ to participate on job site.

    Large Youth Groups

We recommend a 4:1 ratio of youth to adults; however, it is not a requirement.
